8 Incredible Things to do in Bali

So I may or may not be counting down the weeks until my trip to Bali.

OK I admit it – I really can’t wait! As winter creeps into the Cape, the thought of doing yoga on a Balinese beach, snorkelling in warm water and being sun-kissed warms me up more than a hot cup of tea.

Bali is a truly enchanting place with a whole host of exploration opportunities. There are plenty of amazing things to see and do such as these eight incredible activities:

Ride an Elephant at Desa Taro

Elephants are truly majestic creatures and, in Bali, you can ride them. Explore the jungles of Bali on a real elephant safari.

Shop at Ubud Art Market

What could feel more interesting and cultured than an art market? Everything  is handcrafted by the talented people of Bali, and you’ll no doubt leave with something amazing and unique. There are plenty of gorgeous canvases, clothes and much more. Just make sure you have enough room in your suitcase to take all your your purchases home.

Watch the Sunset at Tanah Lot Temple

Tanah lot Temple is considered to be one of the most important temples in Bali. It looks amazing, surrounded by the sea as waves crash against the rock it stands on. By visiting this temple, you’ll be able to watch the most incredible sunset and you may learn a little about the ‘sea spirits’.

Make Friends With Locals

While you’re out and about, make friends with the locals. They are so welcoming, you’re bound to get lots of travel ideas from them. It’s one of the best ways to experience the Balinese way of life and get a sense of their lifestyle.

Go Surfing on Kuta Beach

Kuta Beach is the most perfect place to learn to surf for beginners. You don’t need to worry about ragged rocks, so you can get to grips with your surfboard without hurting yourself. There are many surf schools near by, and you can even hire a 1-on-1 surf teacher to get you started. You can easily walk out of your Bali accommodation and find a surf instructor within a few minutes so give it a go.

Go White Water Rafting on the Ayung River

Go white water rafting down the Ayung River is something you’ll remember forever. As you speed down the rapids, you’ll really get to see what goes on in the heart of Bali; children playing, people working, and Bali’s beautiful scenery.

Go Snorkelling

There are multiple places you can go snorkelling and enjoy the amazing marine life that Bali is home to. While there is plenty to do up on land, don’t leave without exploring this side of the island!

Do Yoga on the Beach in Sanur

Yoga is a very spiritual form of exercise, so imagine how great it would feel to do it on the beach with the sound of crashing waves. That’s exactly what you can do in Sanur and afterwards you can stop to get a fresh juice or a bite to eat too.
