A gap year is the time to find yourself and explore new cultures with different adventures. It can be the year where you discover what you really want to do in life. Or, it might be the time when you meet the person who you are going to spend the rest of your life with. All these are possibilities when you take a year out to explore the world. But you can also use your gap year to tick off some of the goals you have in life. We all have bucket lists of things we want to do before we die. You’ll see I’m powering through mine. Perhaps it’s time for you start yours while taking a year off from work. Here are some of the adventures you could take.
Go On An African Safari
In a gap year, some people take their time off to do some work for charity. They volunteer in developing countries, helping children learn to read or write. Or perhaps even just helping build housing and shelter. This is a great experience and it’s a brilliant way to give back to a world that has given you so much.
While you are in Africa, you could also take an African safari. I’m sure this is on a few people’s bucket list. It’s a fantastic journey through the wilderness as you encounter animals you never thought you’d witness in the wild. From the massive African elephant to the lightening pace of cheetah you’ll see some amazing things. Don’t forget that while working in Africa there are some incredible possibilities that you don’t want to miss out on.
Learning To Ski
How many of us have thought about learning to ski or snowboard? I know I certainly have always wanted to travel as fast as I can down a perfectly white hilltop. If you’re interested in this possibility, why not take your gap year to a place where the weather is always frightful? Take a trip to Canada and get a job working on the slopes, learning to ski in your spare time. If you love the experience, you could even take a ski instructor course. Ski instructor courses are readily available and will allow you to turn that tick on your bucket list into a full career. It could lead you to the best job you never knew you wanted.
See The Seven Wonders
Alternately, you could travel around the world, seeking out the seven wonders of the natural world. An interesting fact you may not know is that there are no definitive seven wonders. There are just a whole heap of debates about which natural phenomena should make up the list. Since this is the case, why not pick your own? If you’re wondering how to pay for this trip, you could create a blog charting your discovery of each wonder. If you write with a unique flair, I guarantee you’ll get a lot of interest from readers and advertisers online.
I hope you have fun ticking off your bucket list while you’re on a gap year. Who knows, you might find your life destiny on the way?
