Holidaying In Britain? Sights you cannot miss

When it comes to the UK, everyone thinks that the best things to do revolve around London. Of course, London is the biggest and most popular city. However, there are things to do in the United Kingdom without having to camp out in the capital city. In fact, some of the best sights and attractions are littered across the countries and are well worth a visit. If you are planning a holiday in Britain and fancy seeing more than London, here are some sights you shouldn’t miss.

Lake District

The Lake District couldn’t be further away from the hustle and bustle of London. The hills and lakes dominate the landscape, making it on the most beautiful places in the whole of the country. Plus, they also make walking and hiking pretty spectacular, too. Afterwards, you can go back to a little town of your choosing and enjoy some home-cooked food and a chilled atmosphere. Bliss!

A Football Game

You don’t have to be sporty to enjoy a football game in Britain. Throughout the countries that make up the United Kingdom, football fever is everywhere. Seriously, it is like a second religion! It is this fever, though, that makes watching a game so exciting. The experience is unlike many others because the atmosphere is amazing. You could watch Manchester United or Portsmouth and the atmosphere would still be electric.

Brighton Pier

The UK gets a bad press when it comes to weather and sandy beaches. I am not here to tell you that they are amazing beaches, and the weather is red hot all year around because that would be a lie! Still, there is one seaside resort I am aware of that is incredibly popular: Brighton Pier. Located outside of London, four million people visited last year, making it the 6th most visited attraction in Britain.

Heaton Park

Or, if beaches are not your thing you can always check out the many parks on offer. There is a wide variety of parks to choose from, but Heaton Park is the north’s most popular with over two million visitors a year.

Chester Zoo

Chester is located in the North West of England and is one of the wealthiest areas in the whole of Britain. More importantly, it is home to the best zoo in the country! There are over 11,000 animals at Chester Zoo, and up to 1,500,000 people flock there every year to get a good look. If you are a bit more adventurous, you can check out Knowsley Safari Park as well. All the animals, except the tigers, are out of their cages and roam around without a care in the world.

Stonehenge

Thousands of years old and standing thirty feet tall, the purpose of the stones of Stonehenge are shrouded in mystery. Just like the 1,200,000 people who visited last year!

Buckingham Palace

Everyone wants to visit London, so there is nothing wrong with admitting that fact. As the experts at C London City will tell you, there are hundreds of attractions, each one as good as the next. The jewel in the crown, so to speak, has to be Buckingham Palace, the home of the Queen.

Visiting Britain should be a holistic experience, so try to fit in as many varied attractions as possible.
