The sun has decided to make an appearance in Cape Town this week and it has lifted everyone’s spirits. Today I’ve shed my winter layers and am wearing a short-sleeved dress (with stockings, but I still feel summery). So for this feel good Tuesday, I though I’d share some sunshine… in the form of photos, an awesome summer YouTube video, a book recommendation and a little update.
Firstly, here are a batch of my latest stunning sunset shots snapped on my iPhone along a Sea Point promenade the other day. I am like a magnet when it comes to the promenade. Maybe it’s because I live up the road and catch a glimpse of the ocean whenever I leave or arrive home? It is one of my favourite places in Cape Town, nay the world.
In the summer spirit of the week, here is a feel good track by Lilly Wood & The Prick and Robin Shultz called Prayer in C. It just makes me want to hop into a convertible with some friends and set off on an epic road trip. Each beat makes me smile as I tap my foot or break out into dance when I’m alone. There’s no better mood booster than a great track so I hope you love it as much as I do.
Next, I thought I’d share a collage of my Instagram snaps from recent days.
For the past two weekends, I have attempted surfing again. On Saturday morning, we braved the icy water and surfed in the rain at Surfer’s Corner In Muizenburg. It was so much fun splashing about in the baby waves, where I like to think I’m untouchable by Great White sharks. The feeling of awesomeness when you’re standing up on your board, riding a wave and not wiping out is epic!
One word. Endorphins!
Surfing, swimming at the gym, running along the promenade and going to a variety of yoga classes have kick-started my endorphins and I’m loving it. I know I sound like a happy energizer bunny but I’m still reveling in the freedom of land-based life where there are a variety of activities to enjoy after work and on the weekends.
I’ve also recently finished reading an awesome book called ‘the Mastery of Love‘ by Don Miguel Ruiz , the same author of ‘The Four Agreements’ and ‘The Fifth Agreement’. It’s not the self-help relationship kind of book that you think it may be. Each page is jam-packed with pearls of Toltec wisdom that is so simple, yet mind-blowing at the same time! It has completely made me rethink how my mind has been socialized and how those preconceptions have affected my mind set and life. I’ll let you look it up online to find out more about this fantastic book, as I am still digesting its powerful chapters.
Lastly, I have been adding beautiful things to my home and office workspace. Bright colours, creativity, art, love, plant life… nesting happiness. Yip, it’s the little things.
Enjoy life’s sunshine, in all its forms and remember to…
