The Birthday Bus to J.C. Le Roux and Brainaissance in Stellenbosch

Last Saturday I went on a mini trip, of sorts, to Stellenbosch. What was the occasion? It was my friend, Dale’s (affectionately referred to as Jeff) 30th Birthday bash. Jeff and his girlfriend, Julz, organised an awesome wine tasting day in Stellenbosch.

So, on Saturday morning a bunch of us hopped on a large tourist bus (to avoid drinking and driving) in Cape Town before setting off to Stellenbosch.  As we each found a seat, we were greeted with little party packs filled with tasty snacks. We felt like school kids on a school outing.

Jeff wanted to celebrate his Dirty Thirty birthday with his favourite people, wine tasting at two of Stellenbosch scenic wineries. We started off at JC Le Roux with an array of bubbly and then moved on to Brenaissance Wine and Stud Estate for more wine, craft beers and delicious pizza.

It was such a fun day filled with many laughs, great conversation, top notch food, wine and beer as well as live music, with a special performance by Jeff serenading us with his new ukulele.

The bus ride home was a bit of a blur for us all as we continued the festivities and drank the bottles of bubbly that we bought at J.C. Le Roux. I mean, how else should you start your Dirty Thirties?

Happy happy Jeff!
