A closer look at Rio’s famous Lapa steps

The famous Lapa steps in Rio de Janeiro.

Rio’s famous Lapa steps are a popular photo-montage spot for tourists. As gurus in the snap-happy department, Louise and I navigated our way from Impanema Beach to Lapa’s streets and found the well-known vibrant explosion of mosaic steps. On closer inspection, there are some crazy yet familiar faces on the mosaic tiles. Take a look at what we found:

A vibrant mosaic clash of colours and patterns.

Popeye with his pipe and spinach. Delish!

The Simpsons! Yes, that’s right – the Simpsons… The Lapa steps have definitely been infiltrated by Pop Art enthusiasts.

Africa! Home sweet home….a speck at the southern most tip – Cape Town, South Africa.

Great art works are revealed on each Lapa step.

Artworks are added to Lapa’s mosaic steps by artists all the time so if you are in Rio, go check them out and see what you can find. Please share the arty love and post some pics here or on your own online platform. Thank you in advance 😉
